Hi Jessica! I’m not finding the Responsibilities/To-Do’s worksheet on this page. Could it be somewhere else?
I think I have it fixed. Let me know if you have more issues. Thanks for your patience.
Yeah! It works now. Thanks so much for the quick fix 🙂
I feel a little bit overwhelmed looking at the weekly responsibilities — about 2.5 hours’ worth of work! Perhaps I can use the “automate, delegate, eliminate” criteria to streamline this a bit? I can certainly break up the food prep into a few chunks on my calendar. But seeing the amount of time it takes just feels daunting!
It can feel a little overwhelming at first, but at least you know what you’re dealing with.
Since our chat on Monday, I read a Forbes article that took the “eliminate, automate, delegate” and added a 4th step: simplify. I think you can definitely apply the 4 to your schedule and also consider batching things. Maybe you won’t have time every week for prep but can squeeze in a larger prep every few weeks?
I’m pretty good at keeping a schedule of appointments, activities, and where everyone needs to be. We have a large desk calendar hanging by the door. Everyone is color coded and can see what’s happening for the day/week/month as they go out the door. I struggle with scheduling things like chores to a specific time. I use your planner’s monthly/weekly/daily to-do’s page to keep track of those things, but I don’t necessarily schedule them to a specific time of day.
We color code too. It’s so helpful, visually.
It sounds like you’ve got a great base system. If you find that there are things not getting done, scheduling them may help.
I have prep time on Sunday afternoons pretty much all year. It’s the midweek time that is harder to come by.
Do you have another mid-week task you could habit-stack with?
There’s probably some time on Wednesdays. My anticipated schedule is shifting around as we settle into our school year. I’ll have to build it into my plan at the beginning of the week.
It works well for me to prep food on evenings when Jake (my husband) runs Dungeons & Dragons (a role-playing game) for his friends in our dining room. I get to listen in on the game he’s created while I get food ready for the coming days.
Fun! My kids love D&D!
